|Hansel & Gretel's Palace at Ritz-Carlton D.C. (No witches here)|
The Ritz-Carlton D.C. allowed me to have another Hansel & Gretel moment where I experienced their life-size gingerbread house made from:
- 560 Gingerbread Bricks
- 35 lbs of Frosting
- 80 lbs of Ribbon Candy, Candy Canes, Jelly Beans & other holiday candies

The Gingerbread House & Boutique was created by the amazing pastry team. During the remainder of this holiday season people are able to have the gingerbread experience by shopping in the Gingerbread Boutique (December 1 - 25th, daily) and/or dining in the Gingerbread House (December 1 - January 1).

Gingerbread House Dinner
Executive Chef Yves Samake's gingerbread inspired private four-course dinner will leave you dreaming with visions of gingerbread in your head! For $110 per person, you can dine in style inside the cozy and sweet smelling gingerbread house which accommodates six (6). We only had time to sample one dish and from the first taste we knew we had to come back and experience the rest!
|Private dining in the Gingerbread House|
- Amuse Bouche - Foie Gras and Spiced Bread "Opera Style" with cranberry relish
- First Course - Spiced Bread Crusted Scallops wrapped in Kataifi, Jerusalem Artichoke Puree Soup
- Soup - Butternut Squash with Gingerbread Croutons & Hazelnut Cream (I call this Heaven in a Bowl)
- Entree - Four Spice & Chestnut Honey Roasted Duck Breast
- Dessert - Jivara Chocolate & Gingerbread Mousse Bar with Caramelized Apple, Candy Cane Ice Cream

The Butternut Squash Soup was PHENOMENAL! I am placing this dish on my favorite dish list for 2012. Because I was in the comfort and privacy of the Gingerbread House I didn't hesitate to remove every trace of soup remaining in my bowl.

Gingerbread House Boutique
I almost lost my mind when I saw all of the treats sitting around the gingerbread house. I was overjoyed when I learned that they were available for purchase. My favorite treat is the Gingerbread Cherry Tart--I dare you to take just one bite. Other treats available for purchase include gingerbread men, women and houses, Linzer tarts, gingerbread cake, Stollen bread and holiday cookies.

Ritz-Carlton's pastry team even offers a "curbside to go" service if you are in a hurry but I HIGHLY recommend you go inside to experience the gingerbread wonderland!
